BARNEGAT, NJ - It turns out that what's good for the students is good for the school board, as well. In order to comply with the call for social distancing, the Barnegat Board of Education has moved its monthly meeting. Rather than risk contact, board members and administration have set up a means of virtually getting together on district business. Members of the public are also invited to the open meeting scheduled for tomorrow, March 24, 2020 at 4 pm.
A draft of the meeting agenda can be found here. Among other things, the Board will consider approval of the school district's tentative June 30, 2021 budget in the amount of $68,456,425. The tentative budget includes adjustments for the use of banked cap in the amount of $475,000, as well as the use of the following reserve funds:
Capital Reserve $ 592,476
Maintenance Reserve $ 1,415,097
The hearing on the 2020-2021 budget will be held at the regular voting meeting on April 27, 2020.
Board of Education members will also entertain motions regarding the district's buildings and grounds. These include requests to approve expenses to reconfigure the district's fuel depot, as well as renovations of preschool toilets in the Lillian M. Dunfee School. Alterations of the sixth grade science classrooms at the Robert L. Horbelt School is another agenda item under consideration.
Motions to approve RTI Data Coaches, as well as Master Teachers for Special Education fall under the auspices of the Grade Banding Committee. Four candidates are named as RTI Data Coaches and two for the Special Ed Master Teachers. There are several other personnel changes listed on the agenda.
