Hainesport, NJ- Today, former Hainesport Mayor (Burlington County) and former Republican Municipal Chairman Tony Porto announced his intention to end his bid for congress in the third congressional district. Porto cited health reasons as the reason for his decision. 

“First and foremost, I want to thank all those who have helped us get out our positive message for improving our nation." said Porto.

" I am a proud and lifelong Republican, and am dismayed by the choice hoisted upon us by an untrusted, one-person party leadership. It  begs to be disregarded (and we do have such a crisis of leadership in Burlington County,), continued Porto. " In wake of a recent diagnosis and prescribed medical treatment, my family must come first."

Porto said that after addressing his health concerns, he will resume my devotion to public service. For now, he stated that he needs to spend time improving his health and recuperating with his family.

"Therefore, I will be exiting the race for the United States Congress,” Porto shared
