OCEAN COUNTY, NJ - The unofficial results for the Republican nomination for the third congressional district show David Richter as the victor. Richter will run against incumbent Andy Kim and Independent candidate Marty Weber in the general election.
Richter achieved 16,578 votes to Gibbs 4,335 from voters in the Ocean County portion of the district. The race was much closer in Burlington County where Gibbs won with 5,781 to Richter's 4,311 votes.
The race between Richter and Gibbs was a contentious one. The two exchanged multiple barbs and participated in a debate moderated by Stephanie Faughnan of TAPintoBarnegat/Waretown.
Incumbent Andy Kim ran unopposed on the Democratic primary ticket and has already accepted his nomination.
