BARNEGAT/WARETOWN, NJ - This may be a novel year for dads when it comes to celebrating Father's Day this year. According to many retailers and restaurateurs, Mother's Day only follows winter celebrations when it comes to spending money. Father's Day 2020 may well be the exception.
On Mother's Day this year, families needed to get creative in making moms feel extra special. Amid the pandemic, restaurants and regular stores were closed. While take-out remained an option, it still meant mom might get involved in the cleanup after meals were finished. If someone else decided to take over as a chef at home, it meant yet another day at home.
While indoor dining remains out of the question, enjoying a special breakfast, lunch, or dinner outdoor offers a new opportunity. Locals may want to take advantage of the eateries in Barnegat and Waretown offering outdoor dining.
Gift wise, it is now okay to visit a favorite local small shop and pick up something special. No need to resort to online purchases or a big box store. With barbershops and salons opening tomorrow, a gift certificate for a haircut or pedicure may well be appreciated.
The weather this Father's Day is also conducive to an assortment of activities. A simple ride over to the Barnegat docks is just one spur of the moment suggestion. Pick up some crab traps or a fishing pole or just take in the beautiful scenes. Maybe decorate a rock and add to the rock garden at the docks as a reminder of Father's Day in a year that's proven more than a little surreal.
Consider a walk or a bicycle ride along the Barnegat Trail. Stop over to Cloverdale Farms County Park and take a short hike.
Of course, one of the major advantages of the Jersey shore are the sandy beaches and the beautiful ocean. Some may chance the greenheads at the Barnegat Bay Beach, or head over to Long Beach Island. Once again, the options have increased when it comes to celebrating parents.
Whatever your choice, we at TAPintoBarnegat/Waretown wish you a wonderful and fun family day together!
