MANAHAWKIN, NJ - During this pandemic, many have rallied to come together to bring the Southern Regional Class of 2020 some positivity.

"As moms of seniors we know first hand what our seniors are going through," said Lori Ruff, "they deserve the special moments they have seen others before them experience."

These three Moms, Lori Wyrsch, Angela Stella-Randall and Lori Ruff put together a Facebook group called, "SRHS Adopt A Senior 2020"

"Unfortunately due to circumstances, life has changed in a way that has been unimaginable. We wanted to find a way to make them feel special and the love of our incredible community. Together we created a page where parents could post their senior and others could 'adopt' them and love on them." Ruff stated.

Currently, over 200 seniors have been adopted in as little as 90 seconds, but many Seniors do not know of this, the moms have said. With over 800 community members in the group, there is plenty of people who would like to "Adopt a Senior."

"Lori, Angela and I just wanted to set the framework, it is all the community members who signed on and adopted our seniors who we want to thank so much," Lori Wyrsch said, "these kids have smiles from ear to ear as they get special treats and gifts. It is amazing to see how quickly kids are adopted, and we have message after message of people who want to help."

Angela Stella-Randall said, "we need the seniors more than people willing to adopt at this point! That’s why we need to get the word out."

They hope this will bring more attention to the group, so more Seniors can have the chance to be adopted.

Ruff concluded, "there has been an enormous amount of positive responses and the smiles on the students faces when they receive random special gifts is heartwarming. We want EVERY senior to experience this. It has been done successfully in other districts. We need everyone's help to show these seniors how we stand with them during this time. We see them, we are here for them, and we love them!"
