BARNEGAT, NJ -  Just two days ago, the news came out that a local grassroots movement wanted to help the hungry in Barnegat.  The organizer of the program wanted no recognition, and he was also concerned about keeping the names of the recipients confidential. TAPintoBarnegat/Waretown offered to facilitate the process with the assistance of the Acme on West Bay Avenue.

Although those in need were not asked to provide justification for their need, some did. Not surprisingly, many were people who have worked hard all their lives. They either lost full time jobs or supplemental income because of the ongoing stay at home orders.

As it now stands, no more gift cards are available. However, Acme has agreed to help the movement continue. Anyone who wants to donate money for a gift card in any amount should stop by the courtesy desk at the front of the store. Please also send a quick note marked "Acme Donation" to letting us know of your kind gesture.

Those who are on the list for the $100 gift cards will be notified of their availability in the order of request. Anyone else who is having a difficult time feeding their family can also ask to be added to the list by emailing  with "Acme" marked as the subject.

Some say it takes a village. The kindness of others certainly reigns in Barnegat.
