BARNEGAT, NJ - For the second month in a row, the Barnegat Township Committee members will meet in Town Hall, without members of the public in the building. Instead, residents will have the ability to watch the 10 am meeting from home. The formatting is designed to limit the public's exposure to COVID-19.

Comcast subscribers may watch the meeting on Channel 22.  In the alternative, the Township Committee may be viewed live via computer access.  Barnegat has had the technology in place prior to the pandemic for interested residents to watch the video live or after its conclusion.

According to the May 5th agendapdf, anyone who wishes to comment on the agenda or have comments read into the record on any other matter, should submit comments to clerk@barnegat.net before 8:00 am on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. The clerk has requested that the subject line include: "Public Comment May 5, 2020."

Two items of interest on the agenda include the second reading of Ordinance 2020-5, which is to amend and supplement Chapter 55.57 of the Land Use Code entitled “CN-Neighborhood Commercial Zone." This concerns condominiums scheduled for construction on Lighthouse Drive.

In addition, the Township will be voting on Ordinance 2020-7 regarding the sale of the property located at 686 East Bay Avenue. The building at this location started as a historic firehouse and has served multiple functions for the municipality.  Bids for its purchase were reduced last month and objected to by at least one area resident.

There are a number of items on the Consent Agenda that the public may also wish to review and submit written commentary.
