BARNEGAT, NJ – Those traveling west of the Garden State Parkway may appreciate the heads-up in advance. West Bay Avenue is scheduled for paving between Fourth Street and Mirage Boulevard on or about September 20th and September 30th of this year.
According to Barnegat Township Committeeman Albert Bille, county officials didn’t plan to repave the roadway until next year. He credited Ocean County Freeholder Virginia Haines in moving up the dates. Bille said those travelling on that portion of West Bay Avenue already consider it a “nightmare.”
As a county road, any maintenance and repairs to West Bay Avenue are paid from Ocean County funds.
Those traveling between Sandpiper Road and Fourth Street should also be aware of scheduled pavement activities. County officials have retained the services of Earle Asphalt to perform the work between September 8th and September 13th.
“Be careful while you’re out there,” implored Bille. “There will be some work done at night. Watch for the workmen who will be out there all over the place.”
