WARETOWN, NJ – If it’s not one street, then it’s a bridge under construction in Southern Ocean County. Barnegat went through its share of travel delays. In Ocean Township, bridges are the focus. The County of Ocean has arranged for repairs to the Main Street Bridge.

“Work continues as weather allows,” advised Ocean Township Deputy Mayor Ken Baulderstone. “The old bridge has been removed, and the project calls for the installation of the culvert just before the first of the year.”

The culvert allows for channeling of the water from the Waretown Creek. The County has retained the services of Earle Asphalt Company to handle improvements to the Main Street Bridge. The new bridge area includes minor concrete and drainage work as part of the project.

“Barring any unforeseen issues and weather, the new roadway should be finished in February,” Baulderstone continued.

A detour is set up at the intersection of Main Street and Birdsall Street for traffic north of the bridge. Another detour is located south of the construction at Bryant Road and Main Street.

In some cases, road construction causes confusion to motorists and significant issues. “Fortunately, there have been no reported complaints or accidents reported as a result of the bridge closure,” shared Ocean Township Police Chief Michal Rogalski.
