WARETOWN, NJ -  It looks like the 23rd Annual Waretown Founders Day won't be celebrated until 2021. Due to concerns associated with COVID-19, the Ocean Township Committee made a unanimous decision. Originally scheduled for May 23, 2019, this year's celebration is off.

Founders Day has always been a favorite among local residents and those from neighboring towns. The event not only features an assortment of vendors, but children's rides and lots of entertainment. Additionally, food trucks offer all kinds of delicious cuisine.

Vendors who signed up for the event have the choice between a refund or letting their fees carry to the following year. Fireworks traditionally scheduled over the Barnegat Bay have also been canceled.

"We do have the opportunity to the fireworks if things change before the date," shared Diane Ambrosio, Township Clerk and Administrator. "However, we have to give thirty days notice and it does not appear it can happen."
