TOWNSHIP OF OCEAN, NJ – While only a handful of Ocean Township residents are experiencing power outages, neighboring communities aren’t quite so lucky.  Dozens of Lacey Township families don’t have lights or access to other electricity.

According to information provided by Jersey Central Power & Light, nearly 4,000 Ocean County homes lost power due to severe thunderstorms that just raced through the region. Meanwhile, it appears the stormy weather spared Ocean County customers of Atlantic City Electric.

Although the thunder has decreased to a mere grumble in some areas, a serve thunderstorm watch is still in effect until 9:00 pm.  High winds are not predicted for any part of Ocean County. However, the threat of lightening strikes and flash floods remains.
