WARETOWN, NJ - Ocean Township officials call it a ribbon cutting event. When it comes to pups and their two-legged owners, Tuesday, August 11th marks the date of a grand “unleashing ceremony.” Pooches are invited to bring their humans along to celebrate access to Waretown's new dog park in Corliss Park Lake and Recreation Center at noon.
The event has been postponed from its original date because of weather and road conditions.
Plenty of tails will be wagging as pups eagerly await their chance to make fresh friends. The Kona Ice Truck has free treats for owners. No word if planned giveaways are rewards contingent on good behavior.
Handmade pup and human accessories are available for sale by Peaceful Creations. Attendees can select from an assortment of dog accessories, bandanas, leashes, and matching sets for their humans. Pooches will also get to bring home a taste of Toby Tail Waggin homemade dog biscuits.
Corliss Park Lake and Recreation Center took on a new name just last month. Formerly known as Waretown Lake & Recreation, it is located on Wells Mill Road.
The dog park was created with Green Acres funds and is accessible to the public. Participants are expected to pick up after their animals. No one will be on the premises to monitor activities.
