BARNEGAT/WARETOWN, NJ - No doubt that the Township of Ocean learned a great deal from past storms. Leave it to them to provide weather reports that surely apply to everyone in Southern Ocean County.
For starters, it's critical to secure outdoor items including lawn furniture, garbage cans, flags, and anything else that could fly off and cause damage.
Strong wind gusts are expected tonight and Thursday as the coastal low deepens and moves to our northeast.
Current Wind Advisory for the coast may need to be expanded inland. Heavy rainfall of 1-2 inches is expected with this system, with locally higher
amounts to 3 inches possible.
As a result, the area may see localized flooding, especially in poor drainage areas.
Fallen leaves may lead to slick roads and reduce storm drain capacity.
Spotty, minor coastal flooding is possible.
Gale force winds of 40 to 45 knots are expected on the Atlantic coastal waters of New Jersey - tonight into Thursday night.
