Updated: July 26, 2019 - The Ocean County Sheriff's Office further advises that callers are instructing victims to go to Target and other stores to purchase cards to avoid their arrest. The police will NOT call you to threaten you with arrest. Please be cautious and do NOT provide any information concerning your social security number or anything else.
OCEAN COUNTY, NJ - Don’t take them at their word. If someone says they’re calling from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, don’t believe it. Your number may be on a list – and, it's not a good one.
According to a warning issued by the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, phone scammers are on the hunt for victims. Pay no attention tO attempts to impersonate law enforcement authorities.
In some cases, callers request personal information. In others, they want access to your banking accounts.
According to the Ocean County Sheriff’s office, all residents should be on the alert. Hang up on the caller and contact authorities directly if you think there might be a legitimate reason for the call.
