WARETOWN, NJ - Ocean Township Police Detective Leanne Petracca confirms that two township teens are still missing. Both girls were last seen Thursday after leaving school at Southern Regional Middle School.

Shawn Weschler said that his daughter Savannah, age 13, has never run away before. “She’s a typical teenager”, he said. “We grounded for getting a bad grade on her report card and she wasn’t happy about it”.

According to Weschler, the girls were able to get a ride in a taxi to a location near Rita’s in Manahawkin. However, the taxi cab driver could not take them to their desired location because they were minors.

“I understand the other girl with my daughter had friends in Phillisburg”, Weschler continued.  “Apparently, the girls planned to have the taxi take them there”.

This is the first time that Savannah has run away. Her father reports that he is worried and has not slept since Thursday.

According, to Petracca, neither Savannah or her friend have their phones with them. However, one of the girls signed into Snapchat and showed her location at a Strickland Road address in Freehold on the Snapchat map. From all appearances, the runaways realized their location was tracked and turned off the feature.

At this time, TapInto Barnegat/Waretown is waiting to hear from the parents of the other teen before releasing her name. Reportedly, the girls planned to head to Florida.
