STAFFORD - One of the Stafford-LBI area's own, Dennis Harrington is seeing his dreams come true. Dennis has been working extremely hard to advance in the very challenging field of college basketball coaching. Dennis recently was promoted by Depauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.
Dennis was recently promoted from a part-time assistant coach for the men's basketball team, has been elevated to the full-time assistant position. Dennis has sacrificed significantly in recent years in pursuit of his dream. This is Harrington's first full time college coaching appointment.
"I'm very happy and excited to expand Dennis' role in our program," DePauw head men's basketball coach Bill Fenlon said. "He's a high energy guy who did a great job for us last year. He cares deeply about the success of our student-athletes on and off the court and is a perfect fit for DePauw and our team culture. He's a great addition!"
Harrington joined the staff at Depauw in August of 2018 and helped guide the Tigers to a 17-10 finish including an appearance in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals.
Prior to coming to DePauw, he was an assistant at the College of St. Elizabeth (N.J.) where he was part of the program's inaugural season. Harrington also spent a season as a women's basketball assistant at St. Elizabeth. Each of those were part time positions.
Harrington also served as Recruiting Coordinator and Operations Manager and an assistant boys varsity coach, junior varsity head coach and skill development trainer for the Impact Basketball Academy in Florida. He started his career as an assistant boys varsity coach at the Southern Regional School District in Manahawkin, N.J.
Dennis earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in history from Marquette University.
