40th Annual Festival of Trees Continues at EEC in Basking Ridge Through Dec. 29

BASKING RIDGE, NJ - If you haven't yet visited the 40th annual Festival of Trees, the winter wonderland spectacular that displays the creativity of local groups and individuals in decorating holiday trees, you still have through Dec. 29 to visit this year's display at the Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge. 

A non-denominational event, the Festival of Trees each year transforms the Environmental Education Center into a festive spectacular featuring a remarkable display of holiday trees, designed and created by local groups, clubs, businesses, and individuals who select the theme and decorate in their own style with their personal artistic ability.

The annual Central Jersey holiday tradition provides a great way for families to enjoy the festivities of the holiday season. After touring the rows of "theme" trees, the Snowflake Café provides the opportunity to enjoy a hot beverage, fresh baked good.

Live holiday music by both professional and amateur performers is performed on weekends. A schedule of performers is available by calling the Environmental Education Center at 908-766-2489.

This year's Festival of Trees is open to the public seven-days-a week until Friday, Dec. 29, with the exception of Sunday, Dec. 24 through Tuesday, Dec. 26.. Exhibit hours are 9 a.m.. to 4:30 p.m. daily.  

There is a suggested donation of $5 per person. Groups of 12 or more who schedule in advance will receive a 20% discount. Disadvantaged or disabled groups will be admitted for free. Proceeds from the event help support educational and community service programs at the EEC.

Bedminster Woman Dies From Injuries After Being Struck by Car at Bridgewater Mall Parking Lot

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A Bedminster woman has died from her injuries after being struck by a car in the parking lot of the Bridgewater Commons Mall on Monday.

Marion Kelley, 62, was struck by a vehicle while walking in Lot 4 near the Macy's merchandise pick up area at around 3:20 p.m. Monday.

The 2017 Mazda was driven by Chinmayi Parikh, 33, of Piscataway.
