BERNARDS TWP., NJ _ The Bernards Township Health Department has scheduled another COVID-19 testing for Thursday, Jan. 28, at the Bernards Township Community Center located at 289 S. Maple Avenue in Basking Ridge.

Time slots for residents of Bernards Township and nearby towns are available for between 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day. The time slot of between 9 to 9:30 a.m. is reserved for Bernards Township first responders, according to information from the health department.

Tests will be administered to those age 5 or older. Testing is available to both those with and without symptoms.

The public is urged to protect themselves, loved ones, and their community by getting tested for COVID-19. "You may have COVID-19 and not have symptoms," the health department reminded in a release.

Diagnostic testing for Coronavirus (COVID-19), the SARS-CoV-2, will be performed by FDA approved, Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) platform. Clinical services will be provided by WellCare.

How the testing process will work

All participants should remain in their vehicle until their appointment time and must wear a mask or face covering during registration and testing, according to the health department.

All clients will be screened, which includes answering questions and having their vital signs checked. To be tested participants will need to present a state-issued photo ID or driver’s license, and their medical insurance cards for identification. 

With medical insurance there is no cost for participating in the COVID-19 testing event, the health department aid. Only diagnostic medical services covered by participants' medical insurance will be performed.

Testing is fast and safe, according to the health department. Positive results of the lab test will be delivered by phone or text in a timely manner and a hard copy is available upon request.
