BERNARDS TWP., NJ _ Want to enter a fun competition with your furriest best friend? Have a great Halloween costume for your dog? Pull out all the stops, and bring your canine to the 23rd annual "Dog Days _ A Very Silly Dog Show, scheduled for this Sunday, Oct. 13, on the grounds of Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge.
On-site registration, with a fee of $3 per class, will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the large indoor ring at the Somerset County-owned stable property at 256 S. Maple Ave. in Basking Ridge. The event is scheduled to begin promptly at 2:45 p.m.
The Friends of Lord Stirling Stable are hosting the event, and will use proceeds to help fund programs and activities at the public stable.
Pet/owner look alike, best bark and more
Canines of all shapes and sizes are invited to bring their human companions to take part in a fun-filled afternoon of contests and events. The categories include include Biscuit Toss and Catch; Pet/Owner Look Alike; Biscuit Race; Tail Waggin’; Best Dressed (Costume); Smallest, Largest, and Most Medium; and Best Bark.
Parade of Breeds debuts this year
All entries are invited to show their best side in Parade of Breeds, a new feature debuting this year. Following the event there will be a walk along the equestrian trails.
Spectators are invited to watch from a climate-controlled viewing area or in the ring.
