BASKING RIDGE, NJ - The Ridge baseball team spotted Gill-St. Bernard's four runs in the top of the first before rallying for a 7-6 victory in the opening round of the Somerset County Tournament on Saturday.
Ridge (6-7) scored five runs in the bottom of the second, then broke a 6-6 tie with a run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Tim Huxen went 2-for-4 with two RBI and his second home run in as many days for Ridge.
Devin Stieglitz and Justin Pavlik also had RBI singles for the Red Devils, and Jack Peacock had a single and scored two runs.
Winning pitcher James Crowley allowed just four hits in 6 2/3 innings, striking out 11 and walking three. Although Gill-St. Bernard's (7-6) scored six runs while Crowley was on the mound, only three of those runs were earned. Chris Seebode came on to retire the game's final batter for the save.
