WARREN, NJ - The Ridge baseball team remained unbeaten with a 1-0 victory over Watchung Hills on Wednesday.
Senior right-hander James Crowley pitched a two-hit complete game for Ridge (5-0) to outduel Watchung Hills' Mike Murray, who yielded only four hits to the Red Devils.
Ridge scored the only run in the third inning. Ryan Gogerty reached on an error to lead it off. He then stole second. After a strikeout, Brandon Hylton and Anthony Roti each drew walks to fill the bases. Andrew Lusardi then hit a two-strike foul ball deep to right field that was caught, but on the play Gogerty tagged up and scored.
Crowley took no-hitter into the sixth inning before the Warriors (3-4) broke it up with two out. Crowley struck out five and walked one.
"It was a great pitcher's duel. Two of the best pitchers in the county squaring off and performing like it was a tournament game," Ridge coach Tom Blackwell said. "We had more opportunities but their pitcher, Mike Murray, made great pitches when he had to."
