BASKING RIDGE, NJ- A food drive to benefit homeless veterans will be held at four ShopRite locations from Sunday, October 16 through Saturday, October 22. ShopRite stores in Chester, Morristown, Bernardsville, and Stirling will participate. ShopRite is partnering with the Basking Ridge DAR on this food drive.

The veterans who will benefit from this drive are in the Hope for Veterans Program at Community Hope on the Lyons VA campus. Community Hope provides temporary transitional housing for homeless veterans. The food will restock the pantry used by the veterans at Community Hope.

Needed food items include canned fish and meat; canned fruits and vegetables; canned soups and stews; cereals; canned or bottled fruit and vegetable juice; baked beans; packaged mac & cheese; jarred pasta sauce; granola bars; rice products; and crackers or cookies. Personal care items such as toothpaste, soap or body wash, and shampoo are also needed.

The Basking Ridge Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution is proud to sponsor food drives for the benefit of the homeless veterans several times throughout the year.
