Bernards Community Art Show Opens With Reception on Saturday

BERNARDS TWP., NJ - The Bernards Township Parks & Recreation's seventh Annual Community Art Show, "Inspired by Nature," is scheduled to open with a reception at 11 a.m. this Saturday. The 2018 Mayor's Arts Awards will also be presented at the reception.

The non-juried art exhibit is scheduled to run from March 17 through April 22, at the Somerset County Environmental Education Center, 190 Lord Stirling Road, in Basking Ridge.

The exhibit will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The show will be closed on March 30 and April 1.

This year's Bernards Township mayor, John Carpenter, is due to present the awards on Saturday.

At Tuesday's Bernards Township Committee meeting, the committee also passed resolutions commending the recipients of this year's awards: Helen Shen, recipient of this year's Student Mayor’s Arts Award; Ridge choral director Barbara Retzko, recipient of the Individual Mayor's Arts Award; and the Bernards Ensemble as recipient of the 2018 Organization Mayor’s Arts Award.
