Bernards Township schools previously had a week off in February, as well as a week later in the spring. However, the February vacation was shortened a few years ago in order to move the last day of the school year in June. This year, the last scheduled day of school for students is June 16.

The school district is considering adding the January federal holiday to honor Martin Luther KIng to next year's school calendar. The Board of Education is expected to vote on the issue at the next school board meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27, in the performing arts center at Ridge High School, 268 S. Finley Ave in Basking Ridge.
