BERNARDS TWP., NJ - This Monday's Board of Education meeting is scheduled to be held at 7 p.m. at the Cedar Hill Elementary School, 100 Peachtree Road, in Basking Ridge.
Among the items on the agenda, which is posted online, is the authorization by the board to submit an initial version of the 2017-18 school budget to the Somerset County executive superintendent of schools.
The superintendent's report also lists an update on standardized PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers) testing for this spring.
Municipal budget presentation scheduled for Tues. night
The Bernards Township Committee is scheduled to meet at 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the main meeting room/courtroom at the town hall, 1 Collyer Lane in Basking Ridge.
The agenda already posted on the township website includes the presentation and introduction of the 2017 municipal budget.
If adopted as proposed, the total $38,096,176.64 municipal budget for 2017 would add another $24.39 onto the average township home, which this year is assessed at $627,418.
Municipal taxes account for about 12.7 percent of a homeowner's total property tax bill, according to township figures. Most of the total property tax bill, an estimated 65.1 percent, pays for local schools, while an estimated 16.8 percent goes to pay for the township's assessment of its assessment for the Somerset County budget.
A public hearing on the this year's budget is scheduled for Tuesday, April 11. The Township Committee is also scheduled to vote that night on adoption of a final budget.
Other items on the Township Committee agenda include resolutions commending winners of the mayor's arts awards; appropriation of $280,000 of funds set aside for various capital improvement projects; and more.
