BERNARDS TWP., NJ - Alex Blinder, who is coming from the nearby Long Hill Township school district, has been appointed as the new school system-wide Director of Technology for Bernards Township schools, effective Aug. 25.

Blinder was appointed last week by the Board of Education to replace Christopher Barone, who is leaving the position.

Blinder was appointed for an initial period of Aug. 25, 2017 through June 30, 2018, at an annual salary of $115,000 that will be pro-rated during those 10 1/4 months.

School officials already asked a few technology-related questions last week of Blinder, who said he has been technology administrator in Long Hill Township schools.

Among the technology decisions facing the school board this year is the question of whether the district should invest more heavily in Google Chromebooks for student use.

"There's a lot of technology discussions going on," Blinder said following the July 24 meeting, when he was appointed.

"I am going to be supporting and providing leadership to help with these initiatives," he said when asked what he expects to be working on in the upcoming year.
