Bernards Set to Spend $49K for Protective Gear for Firefighters

BERNARDS TWP., NJ - Tuesday night's Bernards Township Committee meeting includes a resolution for the purchase of firefighters' protective clothing and equipment to outfit the township's all-volunteer fire companies.

The firefighting gear is due to be purchased through a state contract with the New Jersey Fire Equipment Company in Green Brook.

The resolution on Tuesday's meeting agenda states that the total purchase will not exceed $48,790.

The funds for the purchase were already set aside in the township's 2016 municipal budet, according to Tuesday's agenda.

Bernards Township has two fire companies; the Basking Ridge Fire Co. and the Liberty Corner Fire Co.

The July 11 Township Committee meeting is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11.
