BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NJ -- The Royal Academy of Robotics 'RoboSnackers' are still in the running for a state championship.

The RoboSnackers, a team of six fourth-graders from Cedar Hill School and Liberty Corner School, were selected to compete for the state championship of the LEGO League Tournament.

According to parent coach Vaishali Bhagat, they created their team last year with the goal of participating in the tournament.

"We were inspired by Ridge Robotics founder Preeti Gupta from our town, whose kids are in Ridge High School," Bhagat said.

Another parent coach, Anirudh Goel, took over the technical coaching for the tournament and decided to register for regionals while Bhagat worked with the team on its innovation and core values development.

The RoboSnackers were one of four teams to advance in the regional tournament held in Bound Brook High School last week. They will for a state championship Dec. 14 and 15.
