BERNARDSVILLE, NJ -- A red Audi A6 was reported stolen from Sycamore Court early Saturday morning.
According to Bernards Township police, the theft occurred around 2:25 a.m. on Aug. 3. Police reported that a White 2018 BMW M#3 was apparently involved in the theft of the Audi.
Sgt. Robert Herndon of the Bernards Township Police Department began pursuit of both cars at about 2:41 a.m., 16 minutes after the report of the theft. Herndon located both vehicles at the intersection of North Finley Avenue and Route 202. He attempted to stop the vehicles, but the drivers of the two cars took off and travelled on to I-287 North at a high rate of speed.
After terminating the pursuit, Sgt. Herndon located the White BMW, which was abandoned by the occupants on Route 24 East. The BMW was reported stolen out of Freehold in Monmouth County a few days prior to this incident.
The suspects were not apprehended and have not been identified at this time.
