BERNARDS TWP., NJ - The Cedar Hill Elementary School playground is due to receive some new equipment and sprucing up this spring, courtesy of a $35,000 donation from the school's Parent Teacher Organization.

The playground improvements will be dedicated to former Cedar Hill Principal Joseph Mollica in honor of his many years of service to the students at the school, said current Cedar Hill Principal Paul Ciempola.

The PTO raised money via their annual fundraiser last year to fund improvements to the Cedar Hill playground, due to be installed in late May, Ciempola said in an email.

The Bernards Township Board of Education officially recognized and accepted the donation from the Cedar Hill PTO at its meeting at the beginning of last week.

The donated funds are earmarked to be spent on: a Game Time Omni Tri Net, an outdoor water fountain, a sign, and miscellaneous delivery and installation costs, according to the school board's agenda.

This will be new equipment in addition to the existing equipment, Ciempola said in an email this past week.
