Deadline is Aug. 12 for entires in the Suzanne Cutler Teen Writing Contest at the Bernards Township Library

BERNARDS TWP. – It’s not too late to enter the Suzanne Cutler Teen Writing Contest at the Bernards Township Library. Students who will be ages 12-14 and 15-18 by Aug. 21, have until Saturday, Aug. 12, to submit short story fiction and poetry to the contest.

Winners in each age group and category will receive Visa gift cards and bound copies of all the contest entries.

The contest is made possible by generous donations from friends and family in memory of Suzanne “Suzy” Cutler, who loved literature and teaching.

The rules for submitting a manuscript are:

Manuscripts that are illegible, single-spaced or that otherwise don’t meet the requirements listed below will now be judged.

Applicants should NOT put their name anywhere on the manuscript. That information should be only on the entry form.

Double-space and type.

Include the title and page number in the upper right-hand corner of EVERY page.

An entry form must be submitted for each entry, even for the same contestant entering multiple categories.

Short Story – each entry no more than 1,500 words.

Poetry – one poem, no more than 300 words.

The entry form can be found here, on the Bernards Township Library. Submit the entries in person at the library, 32 South Maple Ave., Basking Ridge.
