Deadline Saturday, June 30, To Order Commemorative Tree For Bernards Parks

BERNARDS TWP., NJ _ Saturday, June 30, is the last day to purchase a commemorative tree from Bernards Township as a way of: honoring the memory of a relative, friend or member of an organization; noting a milestone or special event; or perhaps recognizing a volunteer's or employee's service.

Trees can be ordered online on the Bernards Township website by Sat., June 30, at a cost of $200, including a commemorative plaque on which a person or organization's name will be engraved.

Tree purchasers can list preferred park location, but no guarantees

The commemorative trees ordered now will be planted in various Bernards Township parks in October. Purchasers may list a preferred park location where they would like their tree placed _ however, the final location of the tree will be at the discretion of the township, according to the website.

Purchasers will receive a notification letter with the date and time of planting so they may be present if they wish wish.

A plaque, located at Town Hall outside the Parks & Recreation service window, displays the names of all individuals/organizations for whom trees have been planted, including the occasion and year of planting.

The same webpage lists details for residents who instead want to purchase a commemorative bench to be installed in a Bernards Township park.The deadline for purchasing a $500 bench is Oct. 31, with bench installations due to take place the following April.

Bedminster Woman Dies From Injuries After Being Struck by Car at Bridgewater Mall Parking Lot

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A Bedminster woman has died from her injuries after being struck by a car in the parking lot of the Bridgewater Commons Mall on Monday.

Marion Kelley, 62, was struck by a vehicle while walking in Lot 4 near the Macy's merchandise pick up area at around 3:20 p.m. Monday.

The 2017 Mazda was driven by Chinmayi Parikh, 33, of Piscataway.
