BASKING RIDGE, NJ - Ridge built a 26-point lead after one half and went on to a 29-13 football victory over Linden at home Friday night.

The victory could ensure that Ridge (7-1) received a high enough seed to get a home game when the Section 2, Group 5 state tournament begins next weekend. The game also brought an end to Linden's (7-2) seven-game winning streak.

Fullback Christian Sweeney scored on a 2-yard run with 3:38 left in the first quarter and Jake Beckman kicked the extra point to give Ridge a 7-0 lead. With 8:58 left in the first half, Wes Hudkins connected with Brendan Bell on a 74-yard TD pass on third-and-26 to give the Red Devils a 14-0 lead.

Halfback Jack Perry, who has excelled since joining the lineup when Nolan Haddad went down with a collarbone injury in midseason, gave Ridge a 20-0 lead with an 8-yard TD run with 4:22 left in the opening half. Hudkins' second TD pass of the game, a 25-yard connection to Jake Hoffman, extended the Ridge lead to 26-0 with a minute to go in the half.

Beckman closed out the Ridge scoring with a 28-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. Ridge's defense limited Linden to two first downs in the first half.
