Gill-St. Bernard's Defeats Ridge in SCT Boys Basketball Semis, 57-38

MONTGOMERY, NJ - Top-seeded Gill-St. Bernard's started fast and finished even stronger to defeat the Ridge boys basketball team, 57-38, in the semfinal round of the Somerset County Tournament Saturday evening.

Alex Schachne scored 11 points to lead a balanced attack for Gill-St. Bernard's (21-4), which opened a nine-point lead after a quarter. Senior forward Max Mahoney finished with 20 point and eight rebounds for fourth-seeded Ridge (15-7), but he was the only Red Devils player to score a two-point basket.

Ridge had five 3-pointers, two by guard Danny Doolan.
