NEW PROVIDENCE, NJ - MAX Challenge New Providence stepped up to give back to Home for Good Dog Rescue in Berkeley Heights, raising almost $900 from their morning classes and hosted an adoption event at their store last Saturday -- and 10 puppies found their forever homes.

"At the MAX, we recognize and appreciate that we are members of the local community, and we are so grateful that we were able to participate in this amazing fundraising event," said Allison DiMarzio, Owner. "We raised almost $900 to benefit the Home for Good Dog Rescue in Berkeley Heights, and 10 adoptions were made that day as well. In fact, I added a new member to our family that day!"

Max Challenge likes to give back and chooses a charity that is near and dear to their staff members or members. Toni Ann Turco, co-founder of Home for Good Dog Rescue, is a MAXer and was thrilled to host an adoption event in New Providence. "The MAX did a great thing by having three cardio classes and gave Home for Good Dog all the proceeds," she said.

There were 14 dogs and 10 were adopted from the event -- even two MAXers adopted dogs.

"We have every intention to do this again, since it's heartwarming to see our members show up, get a great workout in, and at the same time contribute to the overall well being of the community,"  said DiMarzio.

Home for Good Dog Rescue received 26 dogs from Hurricane Harvey in Houston, Texas -- three times as many as they usually foster.

Turco told TAPinto that Home for Good Dog Rescue also received 45 new foster applications as a result of the hurricanes. They are hopeful that these fosters will turn into "regular fosters" because they need fosters for all dogs.

Home for Good Dog Rescue has picked up their "away game" and have expanded their reach with events in Bergen County and they recently participated in the Tewksbury Harvest Festival. Visit the Home for Good Dog Rescue website or call (908) 598-8212 to learn about being a foster, adoption events or to donate. Home for Good Dog Rescue is located at 465 Springfield Ave. in Berkeley Heights.
