MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ - Jack Mandala accomplished a hat trick and Mark Unigovsky turned away 29 shots, including a highlight-reel kick save that helped the Ridge ice hockey team defeat Madison, 5-2, Sunday at Mennen Arena.
Connor Villa got things going off a rebound in front, scoring on a floater that found its way over the goaltender's shoulders and into the net. Mandala then made a nice move up close to put in the first of his three goals, giving Ridge (3-1) a 2-0 lead, which quickly turned into 3-0 when Mandala deflected a shot from Spencer Charleson.
Ted Kapp's goal extended the Red Devils' lead to 4-0, and Mandala finished up the scoring with assists from Alex Konovalov and John Vilade. Konovalov and Charleson each had two assists, with Will Allen, Brian Breslow and Vilade contributing one assist apiece.
