BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Somerset County Department of Health reported Tuesday that 4,059 residents have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus in the county since the pandemic hit locally in March, an increase of 16 cases countywide since Monday.
Bernards Township had 252 cases, with four new cases since Monday. There were 62 total cases in Bernardsville and 40 in Bedminster. Neither of those communities had any additional cases on Monday.
The New Jersey Department of Health reported 161,545 cases Tuesday, an increase of 627 overnight. It is the fourth consecutive day that the number of new cases across the state has been less than 900. According to the NJDOH, 2,372 patients were hospitalized as of Monday evening, a figure that is down more than 70 percent from its peak in April.
