BASKING RIDGE, NJ — Local parents are hosting a “Take the PARCC” workshop on Wednesday, February 25. The event will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Parish Hall at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, located at 140 South Finley Ave.

PARCC, Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, is “a group of states working together to develop a set of assessments that measure whether students are on track to be successful in colleges and their careers,” according to the test’s organizers.

The event will let parents take practice PARCC tests but guests must provide their own laptop or tablet with a keyboard. There will also be a Q & A session with Dr. Christoper Tienken, Marie Corfield, Julie Borst and Steve Beatty.

Dr. Tienken is a former Assistant Superintendent, Principal and Teacher. He is know a current Associate Professor of Education Administration at Seton Hall and is also the author of The School Reform Landscape. Marie Corfield is a teacher, education activist and a former N.J. State Legislature candidate. Julie Borst is a parent as well as a Special Education Advocate. Steve Beaty is the President of the Somerset Country Education Association.
