BASKING RIDGE, NJ- The annual Christmas Eve Community Sing happened this evening on the Basking Ridge green. The event was preceded by the ringing of the church bells at the Basking Ridge Presbyterian and Bishop Janes United Methodist churches. The crowd gathered at the green at about 6:45 p.m. to pick up the song sheets.
After a prelude by the brass ensemble under the direction of Greg Lane, Bill Corson of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church led the singing of traditional carols accompanied by the all-volunteer brass choir.
Many current and former residents cite the carol sing as one of the highlights of growing up in Basking Ridge. The sing has been held every year despite snow, cold, sleet, ice, fog or rain conditions.
