BASKING RIDGE, NJ — The school search platform Niche.com this week published its 2021 ranking of Best Public High Schools, and Ridge High School scored high in Somerset County's ratings.

Ridge High School was rated No. 2 among public schools in Somerset County and sixth among all Somerset County high schools.  

Ridge has 1,864 students in grades 9-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 13:1. It has a 97 percent graduation rate and an average SAT score of 1,330 among its students.

Niche.com gave Ridge an overall grade of A+, and an A+ in academics, college prep and health and safety, and sports, and an A for clubs and activities.

According to state test scores, 70 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 79 percent in reading.

Niche.com says it ranks schools based on a “rigorous analysis of academic and student life data from the U.S. Department of Education along with test scores, college data and ratings collected from millions of Niche users.”

Pingry was the top-ranked school in Somerset County. Montgomery was the top-ranked public high school in the county.
