BERNARDS TWP., NJ - New Jersey American Water Co. was scheduled this week to begin nighttime closures along North Finley Avenue in order to begin work on replacement of a water main, township officials said.

All of the work will be done at night, weather permitting, said Bernards Township Administrator Bruce McArthur. The work is expected to be done by the end of March.

[Updated information] North Finley will be closed between 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. from Monday through Friday from now through the end of March, Bernards Police Lt. Scott Ward said in an email on Wednesday.

The closure will be implemented from the Oak Street intersection north to the Bernardsville border, Ward added.

Somerset County repaving of road later this year

Later this year, Somerset County is slated to pave the entire length of Finley Avenue, which is a county road, McArthur said.

This summer, after the school year had ended, the water company also replaced decades-old water mains on South Finley Avenue from near entrance to the Lyons train station north to the center of town. That job was due to be completed by around Labor Day, but the project - and nighttime closures - lasted until later in the fall.
