BERNARDSVILLE, NJ _ Saturday evening's clear skies and still-summery weather provided the perfect backdrop for the 17th annual Sounds Around Town in Bernardsville, giving residents and other visitors an opportunity to stroll around, chat with friends, and listen to live musicians or a dj set up at multiple spots in the downtown.

The event, sponsored by the Bernardsville Chamber of Commerce, was originally set up for Friday evening, but drizzly weather caused the outdoors celebration to be moved to the following night.

"I wouldn't miss it," said John Sternick, who said he has lived in Bernardsville for 60 years. Sternick, wearing his VFW hat, set up a chair off Olcott Square, as did some other music lovers.

Some younger attendees (sometimes with their parents) ended up dancing in the streets, or getting in line for a balloon creation from Jay Jay the Balloon Guy.

The event also gave local businesses a chance to showcase what they had to offer. Wavelength Audio Video on Olcott Square was one of the borough shops to open their doors while the music played, and people of all ages congregated in the area. A portion of Olcott Square and part of Claremont Road were blocked off for pedestrian traffic only.

One appreciative fan of Sounds Around Town was Scott,Boutsikaris, who owns the Bernardsville School of Music. Early in the evening, as he stopped to appreciate a performance by Basking Ridge singer Brynn Stanley and her band, he said he was also on the lookout for some of his own students, due to also perform as part of the line-up.

Here is video of Brynn Stanley and her band performing in Olcott Square.

Some other bands came from other nearby towns. Anaphlactic Shok, featuring 15-year-old Jordan Kinsey and Max Thornton, 17, from Bridgewater were set up at the lot off Claremont Road and Essex Avenue.

The evening also drew people to visit local restaurants and to drop in at the Penguin Ice Cream shop.
