BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NJ - Memorial Day activities in Bernards Township herald the start of the season many may have thought would never arrive this year - summer days.
Memorial Day Parade to begin 9 a.m. on Monday
This year's Memorial Day parade will be back in downtown Basking Ridge, to begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 26, by St. James Church, at 184 S. Finley Ave. The procession will then head to the town green, according to the township clerk's office.
The parade, which alternates on a yearly basis between Basking Ridge and Liberty Corner Village, traditionally brings out school and civic groups, and culminates with a ceremony and the laying of wreaths during a ceremony at the Memorial at the green.

The township pool, located at Pleasant Valley Park, also is scheduled to open its gates at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 24.
Sean O'Grady, assistant director of the township Parks and Recreation Department, said the pool will be open during part-time hours through June 20.
The pool is scheduled to be open until then from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends, and from 4 to 7 p.m. on weekdays, he said.
However, the pool will be open a full day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. this Monday since that is Memorial Day, O'Grady added.
Further information on the pool hours and how to sign up are online at the Bernards Township website.
Memberships are still available at both the Pleasant Valley Pool and for the Coakley-Russo Memorial municipal golf course, also off Valley Road, O'Grady said on Thursday.
