Prosecutor: Body of Man Found in Franklin is Homicide Victim

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ – Police have determined that the body of a man found in a wooded area off Phillips Road Sunday night is the victim of a homicide.

Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson identified the victim as Darren Fordham, 26 of Somerset.

Fordham suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to Robertson, who gave the following account:

A 911 emergency call was received by police at 8:23 p.m. July 1 and responded to the wooded area where they found the body.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Crime Scene Unit, the Franklin Township Police Department, and Medical Investigator’s from the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office conducted the initial investigation

To maintain the integrity of the investigation detectives will not be releasing the location of the gunshot wounds on the victim.  Based on preliminary facts, the incident does not appear to be a random act of violence.  Detectives are attempting to determine motive, according to Robertson.

 Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance with information pertaining to this homicide. Specifically, detectives are focusing on the time frame of 1 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018, within the area of Phillips Road, adjacent to the property line of the Pine Grove School.

Anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity or vehicles in that area should contact the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office at (908) 231-7100 or the Franklin Township Police Department at (732) 873-5533. All calls will be kept confidential.

Bedminster Woman Dies From Injuries After Being Struck by Car at Bridgewater Mall Parking Lot

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A Bedminster woman has died from her injuries after being struck by a car in the parking lot of the Bridgewater Commons Mall on Monday.
