BASKING RIDGE, NJ - Rebel the Pony, the miniature horse in residence at Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, will again throw his annual summer party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17, at the Somerset County stable at 256 S. Maple Ave. in Basking Ridge.

Children and adults of all ages are invited to celebrate Rebel the Pony’s Special Event, a summer party hosted by Lord Stirling Stable’s friendliest 4-legged character. Pony rides, hayrides, light refreshments and parking all are free for Rebel's guests.

Rebel just asks visitors who are able to please bring along a non-perishable food or personal care item for donation to Somerset County food banks, according to the Somerset County Parks Commission, which owns the stable. Rebel will provide a chuck wagon to collect the much-needed supplies.

Rebel also will be joined by McGruff the Crime Dog as a reminder to everyone to Say “Neigh” to Drugs, according to the county.

Rebel's pony friends will be on hand to give Lead Line rides to children up to 12 years old who are able to sit and hold onto the saddle unassisted. Everyone may enjoy hayridess and light refreshments throughout the day.

"Although Rebel loves to be petted and spoiled, he does try to think of others," say his human friends at Lord Stirling.
He knows he is one lucky pony and is willing to share the spotlight on his special day to give back to his community. He hopes everyone will come to his party!"

Fans may follow him on Twitter @Rebelthepony #underthetree.

For additional information, call Lord Stirling Stable at 908-766-5955.  ndividuals with a hearing or speech impairment can call NJ Relay Service at 711.
