BERNARDS TWP., NJ –  Laurie Albee, a resident of Bernards Township, has formally announced her candidacy for one of two open seats on the Bernards Township Committee.

Albee plans to seek the GOP Municipal Committee endorsement for a three-year term when the organization holds its annual candidates screening meeting on March 19.

“There are two clear messages I’ve heard from Township residents, especially during the successful campaign to stop the quarry development plan.  First—they want to protect and preserve the small town quality of life in Basking Ridge. And second—that our Republican Party needs fresh faces—someone who can bring honest, open and direct communications to local government. I know I can be that person and I’d be honored to serve the residents and neighbors of our town,” says Albee.

Albee, a lifelong resident of New Jersey, has lived in The Hills development of the Township for 19 years. A resident of the Carlisle section, Albee is a single working mother of three who has been widely active as team manager, coordinator, liaison, trustee, and communications director for multiple athletic sports teams in the Bernards Township School District.

She is the Business Development Manager for Premier Energy Group in Middlesex with 20 years of experience in the deregulated energy industry.

“I want to foster an invigorated and fully engaged community.  I want to restore trust and openness in our elected officials.  At the same time, I will continue with the “pay as you go” philosophy to keep our tax rate down and keep Bernards Township the safe, rural town that our residents love and that will remain this way for future generations.”
