Ridge Baseball Loses to Pingry, 14-9; Will Play Gill-St. Bernard's in Somerset Tournament Saturday

BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NJ - Pingry pounded out 14 hits and had a pair of five-run innings to score a 14-9 baseball victory over Ridge on Friday.

Pingry's five-run fourth inning gave the team a 13-7 lead. Ridge had bounced back after Pingry took an 8-2 lead with five runs in the second inning, scoring one run in the bottom of the second and four runs in the bottom of the third. Pingry hit four home runs at windy Mountain Park on the day.

Tim Huxen and Jack Peacock each hit home runs for Ridge (5-7). Andrew Lusardi went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI for the Red Devils, and Greg Bozzo and Anthony Roti had two hits apiece. Bozzo knocked in a pair of runs.

Ridge will face Gill-St. Bernard's in the opening round of the Somerset County Tournament Saturday at noon at Ridge's home field. Ridge is seeded sixth. Gill-St. Bernard's, the 11th seed, defeated Franklin, 6-2, in a preliminary round game on Thursday.
