Ridge Girls Track Team Takes Sectional Crown


BASKING RIDGE, NJ - The Ridge High School girls track team won the NJSIAA Section 2, Group 4 championship last weekend, 112-100, over North Hunterdon.

Ridge won eight gold medals in all at the meet held at Ridge High School Friday and Saturday, with Jessica Creedon claiming three first-place finishes, in the high jump, 400-meter hurdles and 100-meter hurdles, and Brooke Fazio coming in first in the 400-meter, 800-meter (with a time of 2:10.32, best in the state this year and best ever for a Ridge athlete) and the 4x400m relay, in which she was the anchor and where she ran a 54.8. The team of Olivia Cicchetti, Meghan Convery, Kaitlyn Van Baalen and Fazio ran a 3:54.21 in the 4x400M relay.

Cicchetti, Emily Hirsch, Shaila Saifee and Van Baalen took second place in the 4x800m relay. Cathy Jin won a gold medal in the shot put and a silver in the discus.

In Section 2, Group 4 boys competition, Ridge finished third overall and captured a gold medal in the 4x800m relay, where the foursome of Brett Asay, Ryan Orr, Tommy Martinson and Patrick Bayeux ran 7:59.49.
