Ridge this year won 1st Place at the Hunterdon Central High School Marching Band Festival and at the Somerville High School Marching Band Competition. They also captured all five of the Caption Awards at these competitions for Best Visual, Best Color Guard, Best Percussion, Best Music and Overall Effect.

Ridge High School also hosted their own Marching Band Competition on October 25th which was an exciting event packed with entertainment. It drew over two thousand spectators to watch 17 area high school bands perform great music and choreographed movements in smart uniforms. The competition was at its best as these bands had been perfecting their performances at events since August.

Throughout the season the band performed at the Ridge Red Devil’s Football games as well. A special pre-game event held this past Saturday, recognized the senior members of the marching band, cheer leaders and football team on their outstanding achievement.

The marching band program is a great way for students to develop their music proficiency. It goes much further with lessons on teamwork, discipline and winning. Director of Ridge Marching Band Dan Zugale commended the band, stating that “I could not be happier with our season this year and how the students responded to instruction and were disciplined and focused.” He also added that “we are fortunate to have an outstanding design staff that put together first rate drill, music, and color guard composition and our teaching staff always worked hard to get the best out of our students.”

The band’s coaching staff members include Assistant Band Director – Joe Kirk, Color Guard and Drill Designer – George Mattis, Color Guard Instructor – Kasey Zampella, Music Arranger – Dennis Argul, Percussion Captain Head – Joe Keefe, Percussion Instructors – Tom Wang and Nick Eisentein, Music Techs – Danielle Plagge and Christopher Keri.
