BASKING RIDGE, NJ -- The Ridge football team is well-represented on the Mid-State 38 All-Delaware Division team, with seven players on first team, six more on second team and an honorable mention selection.
The all-division team was the result of a vote of the league's coaches.
Senior quarterback Brendan Bell, senior fullback Christian Sweeney, senior halfback Jack Perry and senior wideout Cameron Lloyd all were named to the first team offense. Senior end Jake Hoffman and junior linemen Andrew Taddeo and Nolan Murphy each were selected to the first team defense.
Bell, a converted receiver who also excelled as a strong safety on defense, completed 62 percent of his passes for 1,370 yards and 15 touchdowns, rushed for 377 yards and seven TDs and led the Red Devils in tackles on defense. Sweeney rushed for 694 yards and eight TDs with a 6.1-yard average. Perry totaled 713 yards rushing and receiving combined and made 90 tackles and two interceptions at safety. Lloyd averaged 19.4 yards on 27 receptions, including five for TDs.
Hoffman made 47 tackles, including three for losses, and scored four TDs on offense. Taddeo led the team with four sacks and Murphy had 28 tackles, including four behind the line of scrimmage.
Three offensive linemen from Ridge were selected on the second team offense: seniors Collin Young and Michael Duncan and junior Colin Scherzer. The second team defense includes senior DBs Chris Serluco and Luke Roberts and senior end Jared Ziegler.
Senior Devin Hennessey-Rose, a QB/DE, was given honorable mention in the Delaware Division.
Ridge posted its third 8-2 season in the last four years in 2019, which was the final season under 11-year head coach Bill Tracy, who announced after the season that he was stepping down. A replacement has not yet been named.
